Adult Ministries

Sunday Morning Classes

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. (Prov 9:10)

Our adult education classes exist to increase knowledge and build community. They offer an ongoing variety of Bible, theology, church history, and Christian living. Classes begin at 9 am. See calendar for specific dates.

Brick Lane Men

The men of Brick Lane want to actively seek God in every way: worship, activities, thought, behavior, character, study, companionship, and so on!

Our vision: To see each man at Brick Lane be in scripturally based, discipleship relationships that encourage him to live up to the calling he has in Jesus Christ.

Our mission: To create a community of men at Brick Lane that equips each man to grow in his relationship with Jesus Christ. We desire to help each man develop his spiritual gifts and honor Christ in all his relationships: family, church, workplace, and community.

See our calendar for specific Brick Lane Men ministry dates.

Brick Lane Women

We desire to glorify God by striving to meet the needs of women in our church and our community. We are the arms of Jesus, embracing ladies in their world so that they will live more fully for him.

Since spiritual growth is our priority, we present opportunities for you to participate actively in Sunday morning classes, Bible studies, and other teaching and training opportunities. We encourage you to check out the options below to find something that fits you.

Mom’s Together

Three times a year our mothers meet for a morning designed to encourage and equip moms with children from birth through fifth grade. Each event includes a hot breakfast and a presentation on a relevant topic and discussion around tables, all in a fun and relaxing atmosphere. At the same time, their young children are enjoying a special, quality, age-appropriate program with Bible stories, games, crafts, and snacks.

God’s Special Women

God’s Special Women is our vibrant widows’ group that meets in each others’ homes for book discussions, prayer, singing, games, and crafts. They encourage one another as they serve in the church and reach out to others, trusting God to meet their every need.

“For the God who made you is like your husband. He will meet your every need.” (Isa 54:5)

A Note about Childcare during Studies

Knowing that it is nearly impossible to study the Bible with a room full of children, we offer childcare services during the morning study hours for preschool-aged children. (This is only for those morning classes that meet at the church.) Mothers are asked to please sign their children up ahead of time by calling their study leader; this will enable us to have an adequate number of sitters to safely accommodate the number of children entrusted to our care. You are asked to pay a weekly fee of $3 for the first child and $1 for each additional child to help cover expenses. If you prefer, you can arrange to leave your own children at home with your own sitter. Thank you in advance for not bringing your children to class.

Women’s Bible Studies

Throughout the year, our ladies gather for fellowship, prayer, and accountability in the Word. Each September, our Wednesday morning and evening Bible studies begin. Over the summer we have a study and weekly prayer groups. Many studies are offered each year — recently ranging from a Precept Study of 2 Peter to a study of future grace. Quality childcare is offered for morning studies at a nominal cost.

Events

You were created for more than a party, but it sure does make the journey even more fun! The Brick Lane Women’s Committee loves to party with a purpose. Not only do we provide enjoyable social events for the women of our church (and creative outlets for our planners) but, first and foremost, we desire to spur on all of our women in their walk of faith.

As we plan our parties with a purpose, we strive to provide

  • Fellowship with your sisters at Brick Lane.

  • A comfortable environment in which to practice hospitality by inviting friends.

  • The love and warmth of our congregation.

  • The privilege of supporting your sisters through women’s ministry, so they can attend Bible studies or the spring retreat.

Our purposes are many. Our goal is singular: to bring honor and glory to our Heavenly Father. We’d love to have you join us — to help plan or to just party with a purpose.

Mercy and Encouragement

Our hope is that God will use us to shower his mercy into the lives of women who need help, comfort, or encouragement.  We love providing gift baskets to first-time moms and meals to families during times of illness, transition, or crisis.

Young Adults (Vine & Branches)

Every young adult is invited to join the V&B “small group” community as we grow together in Christ!

“I am the vine, you are the branches.” (John 15:5)

Small Groups

In small groups, members are cared for by one another and by a shepherd/leader. We study, share, pray, and most of all are family to one another. Small groups are offered in different locations (many in private homes) and on various evenings throughout the week. Most of these are open to new members.

If you are interested in more information on our small groups, or in joining an existing group, please contact Matt Carter at matt.carter@brick52.org or call the church office at (610) 286-6790
