Scripture: Luke 5:12-16
December 28, 2025

Luke 5:12-16: While he was in one of the cities, there came a man full of leprosy. And when he saw Jesus, he fell on his face and begged him, ā€œLord, if you will, you can make me clean.ā€ And Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, ā€œI will; be clean.ā€ And immediately the leprosy left him. And he charged him to tell no one, but ā€œgo and show yourself to the priest, and make an offering for your cleansing, as Moses commanded, for a proof to them.ā€ But now even more the report about him went abroad, and great crowds gathered to hear him and to be healed of their infirmities. But he would withdraw to desolate places and pray.

Scripture: Luke 2:1-16
December 21, 2025

Luke 2:1-16: In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. This was the first registration when Quirinius was governor of Syria. And all went to be registered, each to his own town. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the town of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child. And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth. And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.

And in the same region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with great fear. And the angel said to them, ā€œFear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.ā€ And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying,

ā€œGlory to God in the highest,
   and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!ā€

When the angels went away from them into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, ā€œLet us go over to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us.ā€ And they went with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in a manger.

so that my hand shall be established with him;

   the wicked shall not humble him.
I will crush his foes before him
   and strike down those who hate him.
My faithfulness and my steadfast love shall be with him,
   and in my name shall his horn be exalted.
I will set his hand on the sea
   and his right hand on the rivers.
He shall cry to me, ā€˜You are my Father,
   my God, and the Rock of my salvation.’
And I will make him the firstborn,

Scripture: Luke 1:39-56
December 14, 2025

Luke 1:39-56: In those days Mary arose and went with haste into the hill country, to a town in Judah, and she entered the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth. And when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, the baby leaped in her womb. And Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit, and she exclaimed with a loud cry, ā€œBlessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! And why is this granted to me that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For behold, when the sound of your greeting came to my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy. And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what was spoken to her from the Lord.ā€

And Mary said,

ā€œMy soul magnifies the Lord,
   and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,
for he has looked on the humble estate of his servant.
   For behold, from now on all generations will call me blessed;
for he who is mighty has done great things for me,
   and holy is his name.
And his mercy is for those who fear him
   from generation to generation.
He has shown strength with his arm;
   he has scattered the proud in the thoughts of their hearts;
he has brought down the mighty from their thrones
   and exalted those of humble estate;
he has filled the hungry with good things,
   and the rich he has sent away empty.
He has helped his servant Israel,
   in remembrance of his mercy,
as he spoke to our fathers,
   to Abraham and to his offspring forever.ā€

And Mary remained with her about three months and returned to her home.

And I will say to my soul, ā€œSoul, you have ample goods laid up for many years; relax, eat drink, and be merry.ā€ā€™ But God said to him, ā€˜Fool! Scripture: Luke 1:26-38
December 22, 2024

Luke 1:26-38: In the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. The angel went to her and said, ā€œGreetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.ā€

Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. But the angel said to her, ā€œDo not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom will never end.ā€

ā€œHow will this be,ā€ Mary asked the angel, ā€œsince I am a virgin?ā€ The angel answered, ā€œThe Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called[a] the Son of God. Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be unable to conceive is in her sixth month. For no word from God will ever fail.ā€

And when you have turned again, strengthen your brothers.ā€ Peter said to him, ā€œLord, I am willing to go with you both to prison and to death.ā€ Jesus said, ā€œI tell you, Peter, the rooster will not crow this day, until you deny three times that you know me.ā€

Luke 3:16-18: The people were waiting expectantly and were all wondering in their hearts if John might possibly be the Christ. John answered them all, ā€œI baptize you with water. But one more powerful than I will come, the thongs of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire. His winnowing fork is in his hand to clear his threshing floor and to gather the wheat into his barn, but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.ā€ And with many other words John exhorted the people and preached the good news to them.
